Annual, Biennial & Theme Exhibitions
Since its founding in 1987, the
Potters' Association of Namibia has held annual events for its members as well as non-members to create a platform to showcase their work at Exhibitions, learn new skills and techniques at Workshops. Occasionally we ask that they provide their support in the various Fundraising initiatives undertaken.
Through these events, we hope to create an interest in pottery and ceramics amongst the general public, thereby furthering their knowledge and hopefully nurturing an appreciation for handmade arts and crafts. In return, we encourage these generous patrons of the arts to support us financially at exhibitions and fundraising events.
Between 1987 and 2000, the
Potters' Association of Namibia held a major exhibition each year for its members as well as non-members in Windhoek. A fun annual
Theme Exhibition was introduced between 1998 and 2003.
In 2000, the organisational body of the Association moved from Windhoek to Swakopmund and the new committee decided to change the annual exhibition to one being held every second year and so the
P.A.N. National Ceramics Biennale was born. The first Biennale was held in the Upper Gallery of the National Art Gallery of Namibia, in Windhoek in September 2002.
